SJ601 Sintered Submerged Arc Welding Flux
Products Description

SJ601 is a sintered submerged arc welding flux developed for industrial SAW applications. It is supplied in a gray-brown granular form with fine, generally uniform particles and a dry, free-flowing appearance.
During submerged arc welding, the granular flux covers the welding zone and protects the arc and molten weld pool from direct atmospheric exposure. The flux also contributes to slag formation, bead profile, process stability, and the performance of the complete wire-flux system.
Because submerged arc welding results depend on both the wire and flux, SJ601 should be selected according to the base material, welding wire, plate thickness, welding parameters, required mechanical properties, heat-treatment condition, and applicable project standard.
Dayang Welding supplies SJ601 sintered welding flux for global industrial customers and provides application communication, wire-flux selection assistance, export packaging, and bulk-order support.
Product Appearance
Uniform Granular Form
SJ601 has a gray-brown granular appearance. The particles are fine, generally uniform, and distributed consistently, with no visible agglomeration or foreign material in the displayed sample.
Its granular form is intended for controlled flux delivery and coverage in submerged arc welding systems. Numerical grain-size limits should be confirmed against the actual product specification before purchase.

How SJ601 Works
During submerged arc welding, SJ601 is delivered ahead of or around the welding wire. The arc operates beneath the flux layer rather than remaining exposed.
The flux performs several process functions:
- It covers the arc and molten weld pool.
- It helps isolate the welding zone from the surrounding atmosphere.
- It melts partially to form protective slag.
- It influences bead shape and slag behavior.
- It works with the selected welding wire to form the final weld deposit.
- Unmelted, clean flux may be recoverable under a controlled recycling procedure.
SJ601 should therefore be treated as one part of a complete welding system-not as an independent guarantee of weld-metal strength or toughness.
Recommended Applications
Subject to wire matching and welding-procedure qualification, SJ601 may be evaluated for:
- Industrial steel fabrication
- Automated submerged arc welding
- Mechanized submerged arc welding
- Longitudinal and circumferential seams
- Thick-plate welding
- Multi-pass welding
- Tanks and welded steel structures
- Heavy machinery components
- Pipe and tubular fabrication
- General production lines using the SAW process
Suitability for pressure vessels, pipelines, bridges, wind towers, low-temperature service or heat-treated welds must be verified using the selected wire-flux combination.
