Ocean Welding E310-16 is a fully austenitic 25Cr-20Ni stainless steel electrode featuring a rutile-calcia type coating and compliant with AWS A5.4 / ASME SFA-5.4 standards. This product is designed for high-temperature operating conditions with extremely high requirements for resistance to oxidation and phase stability. It is suitable for AC or DC reverse polarity (DCEP) power supplies and can be soldered in all positions except for downward vertical soldering. It is the preferred choice for welding heat-resistant stainless steels (such as 310, 310S, and 310H), furnace components, heat shields and piping, HK-40/HP-Nb cast alloys, and dissimilar joints between carbon/low-alloy steels and heat-resistant austenitic steels (for service temperatures up to approximately 1100°C). Ocean Welding E310-16 has a fully austenitic weld metal structure, exhibiting excellent resistance to oxidation and carburization at temperatures up to approximately 1100°C. - Petrochemical and refining: Ethylene cracking furnace tubes (HK-40, HP-Nb); hydro-reforming furnace radiant tubes; Fluid Catalytic Cracking (FCC) unit internals; catalytic reactor buffer layers.

Best-practice notes
Redry electrodes at 250 – 350 °C for 1 hour before use; keep in an 80 – 150 °C heated quiver during welding to preserve rutile coating stability.
Use short arc, low travel speed, stringer bead technique; avoid wide weaving to reduce hot-cracking risk in fully austenitic deposits.
Interpass temperature ≤ 150 °C on the stainless side to preserve corrosion resistance; DCEP is preferred for smoother arc and reduced spatter.
No mandatory preheat for stainless-to-stainless joints; for carbon-side heavy sections use 100 – 150 °C preheat.
