Environmental Conditions: When the ambient temperature is below -5°C, preheat the base metal to 50-100°C to prevent cold cracks.

Joint Design: For thick-plate welding, V-groove or U-groove is recommended, with a root face of ≤3mm to ensure good fusion.

Defect Prevention:

Slag Inclusion: Thoroughly remove the slag from the previous weld pass before extinguishing the arc.

Porosity: Avoid welding in humid environments; if necessary, reduce the welding speed to extend the molten pool protection time.
