Deposited Metal Properties
The weld metal exhibits robust mechanical properties, crucial for structural integrity in high-stress applications. The Deposited Metal Properties ensure that the weld joint is as strong and reliable as the base material.
| Property | Value |
| Ultimate Tensile Strength | 100,000 psi (690 MPa) min |
| Yield Strength (0.2% Offset) | 50,000 psi (345 MPa) min |
| Elongation in 2" | 20% min |
| Charpy-V-Notch Impact | Excellent at cryogenic temperatures |
Welding Process and Operational Excellence

ERNiCrMo-4 is primarily used for welding the base metal Alloy C-276 (or its equivalent UNS N10276), and for cladding or overlay applications on steel. Our wire is optimized for the following processes:
- GTAW / TIG Welding: The most common process, typically using Straight Polarity (DCEN) and pure Argon as the Shielding Gas.
- GMAW / MIG Welding: Used for higher deposition rates, often in Cladding / Overlay applications.
- SAW (Submerged Arc Welding): Utilized for thick-section welding where high heat input is required.
The OCEAN WELDING wire ensures excellent arc stability and minimal spatter, contributing to high-quality welds and reduced rework.

FAQ
Q: What is the difference between ERNiCrMo-4 and Hastelloy C-276?
A: ERNiCrMo-4 is the AWS classification for Hastelloy C-276. They are the same material-Hastelloy is the trade name, while ERNiCrMo-4 is the AWS designation. Both refer to UNS N10276 alloy.
Q: Can ERNiCrMo-4 be used for dissimilar metal welding?
A: Yes, this alloy is specifically designed for welding nickel-chromium-molybdenum base materials to themselves, to steel, and to other nickel base alloys. It's excellent for dissimilar metal applications.
Q: What shielding gas should I use with ERNiCrMo-4 MIG wire?
A: A mixture of 75% Argon and 25% Helium is recommended for MIG welding. Pure Argon can be used but may result in reduced penetration. For TIG welding, use 100% Argon.
