ERNiFeCr-2 is a nickel-chromium-niobium-molybdenum alloy filler metal (welding wire) whose weld metal can be age-hardened (precipitation hardened) through heat treatment, resulting in excellent mechanical properties comparable to the base metal, especially in high and low-temperature environments. It is primarily used for welding high-strength aircraft components and liquid rocket components operating in cryogenic environments.

1. High-Temperature Strength and Creep Resistance
ERNiFeCr-2 maintains high strength and creep resistance in the temperature range of 600°C to 900°C, attributed to solid solution strengthening of the nickel matrix and precipitation strengthening by niobium/molybdenum. Its long-term strength is superior to traditional stainless steel welding materials, making it suitable for long-term high-temperature service environments.
2. Corrosion Resistance
Oxidation resistance: Chromium forms a dense Cr₂O₃ oxide film on the surface, effectively resisting oxidation below 1100°C;
Chemical corrosion resistance: Excellent resistance to sulfuric acid, phosphoric acid, and chloride media (such as seawater), especially suitable for sulfur-containing oil and gas environments;
Stress corrosion cracking (SCC) resistance: Low carbon content (≤0.05%) design reduces the tendency for intergranular corrosion.
3. Weldability
Low hot cracking sensitivity: High-purity raw materials and low sulfur and phosphorus content reduce the risk of weld hot cracking;
Good wettability: Moderate molten pool fluidity, suitable for all-position welding;
Dissimilar metal compatibility: Can weld dissimilar joints of nickel-based alloys with austenitic stainless steel and carbon steel.

Typical Application Fields
1. Nuclear Power Equipment
Used for welding of nuclear reactor pressure vessels, steam generator tube sheets, and primary circuit piping, withstanding high-temperature, high-pressure water corrosion and radiation environments.
2. Petrochemical Industry
Used in hydrogenation reactors, cracking furnace tubes, and acidic oil and gas pipelines in refineries, resisting corrosive media such as hydrogen sulfide and carbon dioxide.
3. Aerospace
Used in the manufacture of aircraft engine combustion chambers and turbine blade repair, meeting the demands of high-temperature gas erosion and thermal fatigue.
4. Energy Equipment
Used in the welding of gas turbine combustion chambers and waste heat boiler superheaters, adapting to temperature cycling caused by frequent start-ups and shutdowns.
Welding Process Key Points
1. Pre-welding Preparation
Cleaning: Thoroughly remove oil, grease, and oxide layers from the base metal surface (stainless steel brush or acetone cleaning is recommended);
Preheating: For thick plates or highly constrained joints, preheat to 150-200°C to prevent cold cracking.
2. Parameter Control
Current and Voltage: Recommended current for TIG welding is 80-150A (adjust according to thickness), arc length should be controlled at 2-3mm;
Shielding Gas: Use pure argon or argon-helium mixture, flow rate 15-20L/min;
Interpass Temperature: Should not exceed 150°C to avoid overheating and grain coarsening.
3. Post-welding Treatment
Heat Treatment: Post-weld heat treatment is usually not required, but for highly constrained welds, stress relief annealing at 870°C for 1 hour can be performed;
Inspection: Use PT (penetrant testing) or RT (radiographic testing) to ensure the weld is free of defects.
