EFeCr-A8 High-Chromium Hardfacing Electrode
Ocean Welding EFeCr-A8 is a high-chromium iron-carbon (Fe-Cr-C) alloy hardfacing electrode designed for manual arc hardfacing applications on components subjected to severe abrasive wear and light-to-moderate impact. Compliant with AWS A5.13 EFeCr-A1 and GB/T 984 EDZCr-C-15 standards, the deposited metal contains 25%–32% chromium and 2.5%–5.0% carbon. It forms a dense, network-like structure of primary M7C3-type chromium carbides within an austenite-martensite matrix, achieving an as-welded hardness of HRC 58–62.
EFeCr-A8 is the industry-preferred single-electrode solution for hardfacing wear parts such as excavator bucket teeth, crusher hammers and jaw plates, cement mill rollers, mixing blades, agricultural plowshares, conveyor screws, and slurry pump components. It is available in diameters ranging from 3.2 mm to 5.0 mm and is sold directly by the manufacturer, accompanied by a material inspection certificate.

Not recommended for use in the case of severe repeated impact under large ore feed conditions. First, use EFeMn-A / D256 austenitic manganese steel welding rods for the root pass (buffer layer) welding, and then use EFeCr-A8 welding rods for the wear-resistant surface layer welding.

Microstructure: Primary M7C3 chromium carbides (volume fraction of 30%–45%) with a hexagonal crystal structure are distributed within a mixed austenite/martensite matrix. The appearance of regular stress-relief cracks on the surface of the weld overlay is a normal phenomenon. These cracks can release thermal stress and will not propagate into the base material.

Polarity: DC electrode positive (DCEP / DC+) only. AC not recommended for the low-hydrogen basic coating.
Positions: PA (flat) and PB (horizontal) - hardfacing electrodes are not designed for vertical or overhead.
