Welding process guide

Preparation before welding

 

1. Drying of welding rod: Generally, no drying is required. If the welding rod is damp, it should be dried at 70-80℃ for 30-60 minutes
2. Workpiece cleaning: Remove rust, oil, moisture and other impurities in the welding area to ensure welding quality
3. Joint design: Select the appropriate groove form according to the plate thickness. The recommended blunt edge is 1-2mm and the gap is 2-3mm

 

Operation precautions

 

1. Use short arc welding and keep the arc length at 1-3mm
2. The speed of the welding rod is uniform and the swing amplitude should not be too large, generally not exceeding 3 times the diameter of the welding rod
3. When welding multiple layers, the temperature between layers should be controlled below 150℃, and the welding slag must be thoroughly removed between layers
4. The welding power supply can be connected with AC or DC positive connection. It is recommended to use DC reverse connection to obtain better penetration

 

Solutions to common problems

 

• Porosity problem: Check the cleaning of the workpiece, ensure that the welding rod is not damp, and reduce the welding speed appropriately
• Slag inclusion problem: Increase the speed of the welding rod, increase the arc voltage, and ensure that the molten pool is fully stirred
• Incomplete fusion problem: Increase welding current, reduce welding speed, and ensure full penetration of the groove root
