Application fields

E71T-GS self-shielded flux-cored welding wire is widely used in welding of various low-carbon steel and low-alloy steel, especially suitable for the following scenarios:
• Building steel structure: welding of steel structures such as factories, bridges, and venues
• Agricultural machinery: manufacturing and maintenance of tractors, harvesters, and agricultural machinery
• Automobile manufacturing: welding of body, frame, exhaust pipe and other parts
• Pressure vessels: welding of oil storage tanks, water tanks, pipelines, etc.
• Outdoor maintenance: outdoor equipment repair, pipeline laying and other occasions without gas source
Welding process
Preparation before welding
1. Workpiece cleaning: remove impurities such as rust, oil, and moisture. It is recommended to use a wire brush or sandpaper for grinding
2. Wire inspection: confirm that the wire is not damp or rusted. The shelf life of unopened wire is 12 months
3. Equipment adjustment: use DC reverse connection (welding wire connected to the positive pole) and adjust the appropriate current and voltage parameters
Operation points
• Gun holding angle: maintain an angle of 70-80° with the workpiece to ensure good visibility of the molten pool
• Travel speed: control at 150-250mm/min to ensure full fusion
• Arc length: maintain short arc operation, and the arc length is approximately equal to the diameter of the welding wire
• Interlayer temperature: control below 150℃ for multi-layer welding
Precautions
• Avoid welding in strong winds (wind speed>8m/s), and take wind protection measures if necessary
• The wire extension length is controlled at 15-25mm. Too long wire feeding may cause unstable wire feeding
• If slag needs to be removed after welding, use a special slag hammer to gently tap the weld surface
• Wet welding wire must be dried at 250℃ for 1 hour before use
Production Process
We use advanced production technology and strict quality control system to ensure that each batch of welding wire meets high standards:
Steel strip forming: high-precision steel strip is rolled through multiple passes to form a U-shaped cross-section
Powder filling: precisely proportioned core powder is evenly filled into the steel strip
Continuous drawing: drawing to the target diameter through multiple dies to ensure dimensional accuracy
Annealing treatment: eliminate internal stress and improve wire flexibility
Surface treatment: copper plating to improve conductivity and rust resistance
Quality inspection: chemical composition analysis, mechanical properties test, appearance inspection
FAQ
Q: Does E71T-GS flux-cored wire require shielding gas? What is the difference with solid wire?
A: E71T-GS is a self-shielded flux-cored wire, which does not require additional shielding gas. The flux core will generate a protective atmosphere during welding; solid wire needs to be used with CO₂ or mixed gas. Self-shielded wire is suitable for outdoor work, but the weld formation is slightly inferior to solid wire; solid wire has high welding efficiency and good weld quality, but is greatly restricted by the environment.
Q: What are the causes and solutions for pores during welding?
A: The main causes of pores include: ① Welding wire is damp (not dried); ② The wind speed in the welding area is too high; ③ There is oil/rust on the surface of the parent material; ④ The welding parameters do not match. Solution: Dry the welding wire before welding (250℃/1 hour), clean the parent material, control the welding current and voltage, and take wind protection measures when the wind speed is >8m/s.
Q: What scenarios are suitable for E71T-GS welding wires of different diameters?
A: ①0.8mm: suitable for 1-3mm thin plate welding, such as automotive sheet metal and small appliances; ②1.2mm: general specification, suitable for 3-8mm steel plates, such as steel structures and agricultural machinery; ③1.6mm: used for thick plates or corner welds above 8mm, such as bridges and pressure vessels. The plate thickness and welding position should be considered when selecting.
Q: How to properly store E71T-GS flux-cored welding wire to maintain performance?
A: It should be stored in a dry and ventilated environment with a relative humidity of ≤60% and a temperature of 10-30℃; the shelf life of unopened welding wire is 12 months, and it must be used within 24 hours after opening; the damp welding wire needs to be dried at 250℃ for 1 hour, and the drying should be repeated no more than 2 times; it should be stored away from corrosive gases and high temperature environments.
