Welding process control
- Taking the GMAW welding process of 1.2mm diameter welding wire as an example, it is recommended to set the voltage at 26-29V, control the current at 150-190A, select 100% pure argon as the shielding gas, and use direct current reverse connection (DC-). This is because:
- Cleaning the oxide film on the surface of the weldment: When the filler wire is in DC-, the weldment is connected to the negative electrode and the welding wire is connected to the positive electrode. Electrons flow from the welding wire to the weldment, and positive ions move from the weldment to the welding wire. When the positive ions hit the surface of the weldment at high speed, they have greater energy and can effectively break and remove the oxide film on the surface of the weldment, especially the refractory oxide film on the surface of the nickel-based alloy, providing a clean welding surface for subsequent welding and improving the quality of the weld.
- Improve penetration: When DC is reverse connected, the arc heat is mainly concentrated on the weldment, causing the weldment to gain more heat, thereby increasing the penetration of the weld, which is beneficial to ensuring the strength and reliability of the welded joint and meeting the penetration requirements of filler wire welding.
- Stable arc: Under DC reverse connection, the ERNiCrMo-3 filler wire arc has better stability and more uniform arc burning, which can reduce spatter and arc blow during the welding process, ensure the smooth progress of the welding process, and help obtain beautiful, high-quality weld formation.During the welding process, a stable and appropriate welding speed and arc length need to be maintained.
