Products Description
E310-16 is an austenitic chromium-nickel stainless steel welding rod with a titanium-calcium coating. It offers excellent oxidation and corrosion resistance, making it particularly suitable for welding in high-temperature environments. It can be used for extended periods in high-temperature environments up to 1100°C and exhibits excellent high-temperature strength and creep resistance.
The weld metal is a 25Cr-20Ni austenitic structure, offering excellent oxidation and crack resistance, while maintaining good strength and toughness at high temperatures. It offers a stable arc, minimal spatter, easy slag removal, and aesthetically pleasing welds. It can be used in both AC and DC applications, making it suitable for welding in all positions.

Q: What high-temperature environments are E310-16 welding rods suitable for?
A: E310-16 welding rods are suitable for high-temperature environments operating below 1100°C and are particularly well-suited for welding components in oxidizing atmospheres. Common applications include industrial furnaces, heat treatment equipment, high-temperature pipelines, petrochemical reactors, and other high-temperature environments. They maintain excellent performance in both continuous and periodic high-temperature environments.
Q: What is the difference between E310-16 and E309-16 welding rods?
A: The primary differences lie in the chromium and nickel content and high-temperature resistance. E310-16 contains 25% Cr and 20% Ni and can be used below 1100°C; while E309-16 contains 23% Cr and 13% Ni and has a maximum operating temperature of approximately 900°C. E310-16 has superior high-temperature oxidation resistance and high-temperature strength, making it suitable for higher-temperature environments. E309-16 is more suitable for welding dissimilar materials such as stainless steel and carbon steel.
Q: What is the baking temperature and time for E310-16 welding rods?
A: E310-16 welding rods should be baked at 300-350°C for one hour before use. After baking, they should be stored in an insulated container at 100-150°C and removed from the heat immediately. If the welding rod is exposed to air for more than two hours, it should be rebaked. However, this should not be repeated more than twice, and the rebaking temperature should be reduced by 50°C each time to prevent degradation of the coating.
Q: Do E310-16 welding rods require heat treatment after welding?
A: For general use, E310-16 welding rods do not require heat treatment after welding. However, for critical components subjected to long-term high-temperature use, a stabilization treatment at 760-800°C is recommended, followed by a two-hour hold and air cooling to eliminate weld stress and improve high-temperature stability of the joint. For components subjected to impact loads, solution treatment at 900-920°C and water quenching are recommended to achieve optimal overall performance.
Q: What materials can the E310-16 welding rod be used for?
A: The E310-16 welding rod is primarily used for welding 25Cr-20Ni austenitic stainless steel (such as 310S). It can also be used for welding other high-temperature alloys and dissimilar steels, such as: 1) Cr25Ni20 stainless steel of the same type; 2) welding dissimilar materials between stainless steel and heat-resistant steel; 3) welding high-chromium steel; and 4) repairing alloy components subjected to high temperatures. It is not suitable for welding ultra-low carbon stainless steel or for applications requiring special intergranular corrosion resistance.
