Product Introduction
E6011 is a commonly used manual arc welding (SMAW) electrode, belonging to the category of carbon steel electrodes with a cellulose potassium type coating. The following are its main characteristics, applications, and operating points.
Products Description
- Standard: Complies with AWS A5.1 / ASME SFA-5.1 E6011 standards.
- Tensile strength: ≥ 60000psi (approximately 410MPa)
- Typical diameters: 3/32″, 1/8″, 5/32″, etc.; lengths are typically 12″–14″.
- All-position soldering: Suitable for horizontal, vertical, and overhead soldering.
- Power supply type: Can be used with either AC or DC positive polarity (DCEP). Not suitable for DC reverse polarity (DCEN).

Process characteristics
- Deep penetration and rapid solidification: Strong arc force penetrates surface contaminants such as rust, oil, and paint, suitable for poorly assembled or dirty joints.
- Less spatter and thin, easily removable slag: Stable welding process and easy post-weld cleaning.
- Recommended current range (1/8″ example): Approximately 80–120A.
| Polarity | Electrode Diameter | Welding Current(AMPS | Welding Position |
|---|---|---|---|
| DC Reverse(DC+) | 3/32"x12" | 50-80 | Flat |
| 3/32"x12" | 40-70 | Vertical Up&Overhead | |
| 1/8"×14" | 70-110 | Flat | |
| 1/8"x14" | 60-100 | Vertical Up&Overhead | |
| 5/32"×14" | 110-160 | Flat | |
| 5/32"x14" | 90-140 | Vertical Up&Overhead |
Main Applications
- Welding of ordinary carbon steel, galvanized steel, and some low-alloy steels.
- On-site repair and fabrication of pipelines, storage tanks, ships, bridges, building structures, etc.
- Particularly suitable for root passes requiring high penetration and outdoor, harsh working environments.
Precautions
- Welding electrodes are hygroscopic and should be stored in a moisture-proof environment. If they become damp, dry them at 70–80℃ for 0.5–1 hour.
- Control the arc length during welding and avoid excessive oscillation to reduce the risk of porosity.
