Products Description

E2209 is a duplex stainless steel welding rod, the weld metal organisation is martensite + ferrite.
It has good corrosion resistance, strong stress corrosion resistance, and excellent welding process performance and thermal crack resistance.

Product characteristics

 

 

  • Corrosion resistance:

Resistant to chloride ion corrosion, pitting corrosion (passed ASTM G48 test) and hydrogen sulfide stress corrosion, suitable for seawater, oil and gas pipelines and other Cl⁻/H₂S media environments.

  • Mechanical properties:

Tensile strength ≥690 MPa, elongation ≥15%, -40℃ impact toughness ≥80J (rutile type coating).

  • Welding process:

AC and DC dual-use, DC reverse connection is recommended; no preheating is required, supports all-position welding, and reduces brittle phase precipitation.

  • Organization stability:

Ultra-low carbon (C≤0.03%) and nitrogen-containing design (N 0.08%-0.20%) inhibit intergranular corrosion and σ phase formation.

How to use

1. Preparation before welding:
Welding rod drying: 300-350℃ for 1 hour (titanium calcium type)/250℃×1.5 hours (rutile type).
Weldment cleaning: thoroughly remove oil, rust and moisture to prevent pores and cracks.
2. Welding parameters:

3. Post-weld treatment:

Notes

 
  • Welding material management:

Use immediately after unpacking, and unused welding rods must be sealed back into the drying oven (humidity ≤ 50%);
Secondary drying temperature and time strictly follow the coating type (titanium calcium type 300-350℃×1h, rutile type 250℃×1.5h).

  • Storage conditions:

Cool and dry environment (temperature 10-30℃, humidity ≤60%), away from acid and alkali corrosive substances;
Shelf life of vacuum packaging is 3 years. It is recommended to use it within 3 months after opening.

Q: Can E2209 weld 2205 duplex steel and 304 austenitic steel?

A: Yes, multi-layer and multi-pass welding is required to control heat input, and the tensile strength of the deposited metal is ≥690 MPa, which meets the strength requirements of dissimilar steel joints.

Q: How to choose between titanium calcium type and rutile type coating?

A: Titanium calcium type has strong versatility and is suitable for conventional environments; rutile type has better low-temperature toughness and is recommended for working conditions below -40℃.

Q: Is heat treatment required after welding?
