How Should ENiCu-B Electrodes Be Stored?

Learn how dry storage, sealed packaging, holding ovens, identification, and careful handling protect ENiCu-B electrode performance.

ENiCu-B is a flux-covered electrode. Its coating must remain dry and undamaged to provide stable operation and protect the weld pool.

What Storage Conditions Are Important?

  • Keep sealed packages in a dry indoor area.
  • Store cartons on pallets or shelves.
  • Avoid contact with floors and walls.
  • Protect products from temperature swings and condensation.
  • Keep grades and batch identities separate.
  • Use first-in, first-out stock rotation.

What Should Happen After Opening?

Transfer only the quantity needed to a suitable holding container when the procedure requires it. Reseal the remaining product promptly.

Can ENiCu-B Be Redried?

Follow the exact manufacturer's instructions. A generic baking cycle can damage the coating or alter operating characteristics. Do not assume that conditions for low-hydrogen steel electrodes also apply to nickel-copper electrodes.

Which Electrodes Should Be Rejected?

Do not use products with:

  • Cracked or missing coating
  • Visible moisture damage
  • Rusted core-wire ends
  • Oil contamination
  • Unreadable identification
  • Mixed or uncertain classification

Why Does Handling Matter?

Dropping or bending electrodes can crack the coating even when damage is not immediately obvious. Damaged coating may cause arc instability and poor shielding.

Dayang Welding provides protective packaging for ENiCu-B and recommends maintaining traceability through storage and use.
