Review ER318 chromium, nickel, molybdenum, niobium, carbon, manganese, silicon, phosphorus, sulfur, and copper requirements.
ER318 is an AWS A5.9 stainless steel filler containing chromium, nickel, molybdenum, and niobium. It is designed for compatible stabilized Cr-Ni-Mo stainless steels.

What Does Chromium Do?
Chromium is the principal element supporting the passive behavior associated with stainless steel.
Why Are Nickel and Molybdenum Included?
Nickel supports the austenitic weld structure and ductility. Molybdenum is present where a Mo-bearing stainless deposit is specified.
Why Is Niobium Linked to Carbon?
Niobium is used to stabilize carbon. Its specified amount is therefore related to carbon content rather than controlled only by a fixed minimum.
Do Actual Values Always Match the Typical Values?
No. Production results may vary within the permitted range. Buyers should review the data associated with the supplied product when project-specific chemistry restrictions apply.
