More Than 120 Ports Around The World Are Blocked!

More than 120 ports around the world are blocked! Some ports have declared force majeure, and the shipping company has announced to jump into the port! Logistics delays!

Global ports have become a pot of porridge!

Port congestion spread to the world, and more and more container ships on five continents are waiting for berths to dock. A map released by seapexplorer, a container transportation platform created by logistics giant Kuehne+Nagel, highlights the current ultra-high pressure scenes in various container ports around the world.

At present, more than 325 ships of the world's major shipping companies are berthed outside the ports waiting to enter the port, and more than 120 ports around the world are collectively stuck in congestion. It can be seen from the picture that the port is densely congested.

According to reports, the South African logistics group Transnet service network was hit by a cyber attack on Thursday, and the business of South Africa’s main ports was paralyzed. Announced that its port terminal operations had a second force majeure within one month. Exempt it from any responsibility for its inability to provide services to port users.

After the cyber attack, most of the business in Durban, Port Elizabeth, Cape Town, and Ngurah Port have ceased. Maersk’s latest announcement stated that Transnet’s system continues to be disabled, terminal operations are undergoing limited restoration, and manual systems are being used.

Ships originally scheduled to call at South African ports are now heading to neighboring countries, or skipping their calls in African ports altogether. Ships have begun to bypass South African ports, and more ships may now jump into the port.

In Southern California, the port authorities said that the shipping crisis will not disappear, but will intensify, because currently 33 cargo ships are floating off the coast of Los Angeles, waiting for a long call. These ports are the main source of imports from China and have been heavily congested for months.

Kip Louttit, executive director of the Southern California Ocean Exchange, said that Southern California ports are facing more serious congestion than ever before. Some container ships have been waiting on the shore for several weeks, half of which are giant container ships with a carrying capacity of more than 10,000 TEU. This delayed the delivery date and pushed up shipping costs.

Vietnam is currently at the highest level since the outbreak of the new crown pneumonia epidemic. The capital, Hanoi, began to implement the 15-day "City Lockdown Order" on the 24th. Ho Chi Minh City announced on the 23rd to extend the previously issued "home order" to August 1.

In the case of the outbreak, the port congestion in Vietnam is similar to the port congestion after the previous outbreak in Yantian Port. All shipping terminals are very crowded, and there are many ships waiting for berths.

Bangladesh's continued blockade due to the epidemic has begun to have a serious impact on the shipping industry, especially the ports and terminals, which have caused serious congestion because importers can hardly receive containers.

As of July 26, the Chittagong Port yard had 43,574 TEU (total capacity 49,018 TEU). On July 25, 1901 TEU was delivered from the yard, and the usual delivery volume was 4000 TEU.

The importer stated that due to the blockade, the factories and warehouses are now closed, and all employees are on vacation, so no one can pick up the containers from the port yard.

Due to the deadlock in the operation of Indian ports and the serious demurrage of container ships, relevant parties have begun to cancel the shipment of goods from India. Because of the serious accumulation of port containers, there are no empty containers that can be used, causing the goods to stay in multiple ports for several weeks. .

The unavailability of containers has changed the rules of the game for shipping. Many ships have begun to bypass Indian ports because there are no containers to carry goods. Due to the shortage of containers, exporters could not accept new orders, and confirmed orders were cancelled due to delays. This also dealt a heavy blow to cash flow and caused serious losses. The entire industry is facing a sharp drop in shipments.

Affected by the typhoon fireworks, China’s Shanghai Port and Ningbo Zhoushan Port were forced to close and suspend operations. After the typhoon resumes, it is expected that more freight delays will occur this week.
