- Excellent corrosion resistance: Thanks to its low carbon content (≤0.03%) and added molybdenum (2-3%), its resistance to pitting and crevice corrosion is significantly better than ordinary stainless steels such as 304, making it particularly suitable for highly corrosive environments such as marine, chemical equipment, and biomedical applications.
- Good mechanical properties: It possesses high strength and toughness, with typical tensile strength reaching 485-700 MPa, yield strength approximately 170-385 MPa, and elongation exceeding 40%, meeting the mechanical requirements of most structural components.
- Excellent biocompatibility: Due to its stable surface chromium oxide film and low toxicity, it is often used in the manufacture of surgical implants (such as vascular stents) and medical devices.
- Machinability and weldability: The low-carbon design reduces carbide precipitation during welding, lowering the risk of intergranular corrosion, making it suitable for various processes such as laser additive manufacturing (3D printing), casting, and machining.


Tips
- In high-temperature environments (such as continuous temperatures exceeding 800°C), its creep resistance may be inferior to that of dedicated heat-resistant alloys, requiring evaluation based on specific operating conditions.
- If new processes such as additive manufacturing are employed, parameters must be strictly controlled to avoid internal defects (such as incomplete fusion or porosity), otherwise fatigue life and corrosion resistance may be affected.
